is there a way to save the login/pw info in a rpt so that the when the report is opened in a viewer it is already connected to the database?

How are you running the report? Within Crystal Reports or through a server like Crystal Reports server or Business Objects Enterprise.

i have a 'viewer' that will look at existing reports.
the reports are not stored in the enterprise repository.
i realize this is the most logical thing to do and is likely what i have to do.
but what i was trying to understand is if there is a way, maybe using the 'add command' tool to have the report automatically connnect to the database with user name and pw, rather than having the user who opens the report enter it.
the reason being the the 'viewer' i have doesn't provide the option of loging on.

Glen,

I am sorry for the delay on this post, but I have been a little busy.

If you are just using the Crystal Reports viewer, this only provides a look at the "saved" data in the report. There is no way to refresh the data from the viewer and hence there is no logon to the database.

If you wanted to refresh the data you would need to step up to a server based product like Crystal Reports server or Business Objects Edge.
